To say the Fantasy Football Week 5 panic is real would be an understatement. If you’re sitting at 2–3, 1–4, or—god forbid—0–5, it can feel like your fantasy season is over. And with so many more games to play, it can be a constant demoralization slog to finish the season. But this isn’t fantasy football; this is the hobby. It’s the point in the year when you can start to reliably tell which rookies are future stars, which vets might break records, and which names are about to fade. The good news? There’s still plenty of time to make moves. Just like that breakout player you passed on in Week 2, some of these cards may have already jumped—but the right pickups could still change your season.

While fan confidence is fickle, hobby value still rewards timing. Here’s who to buy, sell, and stash heading into Week 5.
Category 1: The Buy-Low Quarterbacks
C.J. Stroud — QB, Texans
Preseason PSA 10 Prizm Silver: $430 → Current: ~$315 (Low: $275)
Stroud’s market has cooled way more than his actual play. After torching Baltimore with 23-of-27 passing for 244 yards and 4 TDs, it’s clear he’s finding rhythm in Houston’s offense. If you believe the Texans are about to go on a tear (and I do), this might be your buy window. A few more games like this and you’re looking at an easy $100 profit per card
Justin Fields — QB, Jets
Preseason PSA 10 Prizm Silver: $165 → Current: ~$125
The hobby’s favorite “is he good?” experiment continues. Fields hasn’t stacked wins, but he’s proving he belongs at this level. With prices dipping again, this feels like one of those gut-check buy opportunities — if you still believe, now’s the time.
Trevor Lawrence — QB, Jaguars
Preseason PSA 10 Prizm Silver: $750 → Current: ~$630
Lawrence will be a starter next year — that much seems certain after this weekend’s showing. He flashes brilliance (sometimes) and inconsistency (often), but collectors know how fast narratives flip. If you think the best is yet to come, this is your chance to grab and hold while he rebuilds momentum.
Category 2: Inve$t
Emeka Egbuka — WR, Buccaneers
1st Bowman Base Auto: Under $100
Egbuka looks like the real deal. He posted seven catches for 163 yards and a TD. He might legitimately be the next Jamar Chase. You can still grab his Bowman autos for under $100, but that won’t last long. This kid could be the next Chase-level hobby obsession.
Jonathan Taylor — RB, Colts
Preseason PSA 10 Prizm Silver: $67 → Current: $130
Another week, another three-TD game. Taylor is back to his old form and still feels cheap relative to his production. Up nearly 100% since preseason, $130 might still be a bargain if he keeps up this pace. If you missed last week’s recommendation, this is probably your last window before he’s out of range.
Category 3: The High-Risk Flyers
Kyren Williams — RB, Rams
Select Silver Rookie: “Dirt Cheap”
Williams’ emergence in the passing game is quietly making him a stat-sheet monster. Eight catches, 66 yards, and two receiving touchdowns this week add to an already impressive workload. His rookie silvers are still near base-card pricing — minimal risk, serious upside if he locks in a consistent role in the offense.
Hassan Haskins — RB, Chargers
Prizm Silver PSA 10: <$10
Omarion Hampton’s injury opens a rare door for Haskins. He’s barely seen the field since 2022, but with the Titans desperate for spark, it’s worth a speculative buy. At under $15, you’re basically paying scratch-off prices with real upside.
Category 4: The Sell Candidates
Derrick Henry — RB, Ravens
Preseason PSA 10 Prizm Silver: $275 → Current: $300
It hurts to say, but we might’ve seen peak Henry. He’s still a lock for Canton, but on-field production is trending down, and his price hasn’t caught up yet. This feels like the right moment to move his cards before the dip begins — sell into strength while you can.
Bottom Line Strategy
Buy-Low Plays: Stroud and Fields are great value quarterbacks in the hobby right now.
Breakout Buys: Egbuka, Taylor, and Williams all show upward momentum that hasn’t fully hit their card prices yet.
Deep Sleeper: Hassan Haskins at under $10 is a low risk, medium reward opportunity.
Sell Window: It might be time to cash out on Derrick Henry while nostalgia is still paying a premium if you don’t want to wait until he joins the hall of fame.
Closing Thought
Every week the hobby market overreacts, and that’s exactly how collectors win. The trick isn’t chasing hype; it’s spotting the the potential in what has yet to come. Whether that’s Stroud heating up or Taylor rewriting the comeback story, Week 5 might be the turning point that defines your portfolio.
