Happy Holidays, Collectors.

2024 was a banner year for the team here at Mantel. We officially launched the website in February, attended our first big events like The National and Fanatics Fest as an official company, and of course, dropped our mobile app only two weeks ago.

Along the way we made a ton of new friends, both on Mantel and IRL, and the team all added quite a few items to our personal Mantelpieces (my favorite pick ups this year include a Vin Scully signed check, a 1953 Bowman Pee Wee Reese, and a 1980 Topps Scoring Leader Magic/Bird/Dr. J). Yesterday I opened some 1990 Score Baseball, and pulled a Bo Jackson I’ve wanted for only about 34 years.

Did you get any new collectibles for the holiday? Head on over to Mantel and show us what you got (like this member who scored a pair of Holiday Air Max 90s, or this one who got a treasure trove of TCG boxes, or this one who will be busy for the next few days building a Lego Titanic set).

And if you ended up with some cash and need ideas on how to spend it, check out Mantel’s 12 Days of Collect-mas.

We’ve got some big stuff planned for January and beyond, and we can’t wait to keep building this community with you all.

Happy Holidays from the team at Mantel!

Why We’re Launching The Hobby Awards

This morning Mantel, with support from our friends at Yahoo Sports, announced the formation of The Hobby Awards, and I thought it would be helpful to answer two questions I know people will ask… Why, and Why Mantel?   Like many of you reading this, collecting has been an important part of my life since I was a kid.
